Amorim says midfielder “lack of pace” and fans “deserve more” – boss wants Cunha “Connection”

United manager Ruben Amorim said his side needed the speed of the midfield, as well as the organizer Bruno Fernandes and new striker Matheus Cunha had a greater understanding of Leeds before his 0-0 match against Leeds United.

To prepare for Amorim’s first full season, United hit the crossbar with Casemiro’s wide gun before the break, while Kobbie Mainoo’s header started two minutes from Stockholm, and last season’s championship title could have been win, but Tom Heaton’s second half-season savings came from a shot from Largie Ramazani.

“Sometimes, the distance between departments is really big,” Amorim told MUTV. “We suffered some pain when we tried to hit the ball high… they won the ball and it was dangerous in that moment.

“We lack pace, especially in the middle of the park – you can feel that it’s hard [move] ball. ”

Man United vs Leeds: “Connection” between Cunha and Fernandes

Amorim aims to finish 15th in the Premier League after taking over Erik Ten’s partner in November and defeating the Europa League in the final, losing 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final.

The Portuguese said after drawing lots at the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm: “We created opportunities.

“Matheus Cunha demonstrates what we need, this is a player who can be truly aggressive in the direction of the opponent when the opponent receives the ball between them.

“You can see that the connection between him and Bruno is still not there, but that’s going to be good. You can put players like Kobbie or Mason Mount there. We have to improve the quality in the last third.”

Diego Leon: Manchester United ‘strong’

Amorim praised 18-year-old left-back Diego Leon as part of his starter before getting stuck in a half-time change.

“We have to understand that this kid is from Paraguay, and this is his second week at Manchester United,” Amorim said of the cost of £7 million when he signed with Cerro Porteno.

“He’s doing very well – he’s learning things, he’s strong, he’s going to be a great player. We have a lot to do [starting] team [in either half]. ”

Amorim: People United “must win”

The atmosphere around Manchester United is often under scrutiny, but Amorim said he could “feel the environment very good” in the 20th championship, who won the league last time in 2013.

“We will struggle, but we will struggle together. This is the beginning of everything and then we have to have quality because it’s more than just effort.

“You have to win the game. We’ll increase the speed of the game and all the details.”

Manchester United plays West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton in the Premier League Summer Series in the U.S., next, Amorim said the team looks forward to spending time with supporters.

“We think fans deserve more in every way,” he advised. “We will be closer to what Manchester United should be.”
