Keith and Hanifee are newcomers to the playoffs, replacing Paul Sewald and Justyn-Henry Malloy. Right thoracic inflammation has prevented Keith from playing since September 18, and he is not ready for the wildcard series against the Guardians.
As MLB.com points out, Keith isn’t 100%, but he’s enough to hit, so it’s possible that he’s limited to hitting or DH duties in the series. Since the Mariners are heavy on the right-handed pitcher, the Tigers’ bench should be by adding left-handed bats like Keith, who appeared in 422 sets this season in 422 sets.
Earlier today, the biggest development on the Seattle roster was Brian Wo Due to pectoral muscle damage, locality remains. Josh Naylor’s upcoming paternity leave is also the main storyline of the series, although M can be used for a mid-term replacement if Naylor does have to leave his first child’s birth.
