Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim sheds light on his decision to start Altay Bayindir before Andre Onana, confirming that the choice is purely technical.
The move caught the attention before the kickoff, and Onana fell to the bench, but Amorim insisted that his responsibility as a manager was part of his responsibility for the benefit of the team.
The goalkeeper also missed Manchester United’s first game against Arsenal this season, a 1-0 victory for Old Trafford.

“Just try to watch the game, try to imagine the next game, and try to win the best player, so I did.”
Amorim’s decision to turn to Bayindir again this week shows that the Portuguese manager has little confidence in Onana, who struggles during his tough times at Man United.
Bayindir spent most of his career at Olt Trafford as a backup option for Onana, but the Turkish goalkeeper had already been nodded by Onana in the first two games of the season.
