“This is where I want to be”

Houston Rockets guard Fred Vanvleet was asked about his future after losing to Game 7 of the Western Conference’s first-round playoff series on Game 7 Sunday night.

“Obviously, I'm all-out and wholehearted, and this is where I want to be. It's definitely a family situation,” Vanvleet told reporters in a post-match interview.

“I have a lot of love for our coaching staff, Raphael [Stone]Fertitta family, what we were going to do when I had a free agent meeting two years ago and we were on that track. This is never a short-term vision. This is a long-term goal. We're on the right track. We are planning. ”

Fred Vanvleet, 31, signed a three-year, $128.5 million contract with the Rockets in the 2023 offseason. His deal includes a 15% deal bonus and a $44.88 million club option in 2025-26.

The Rockets must work out Vanvleet's choices for next season by June 29. If Houston chooses his own choice, the All-Star Guard will once again be the highest-paid player in the roster.

In his 60 games against Houston this season (all starts) he averaged 14.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 1.6 steals and 35.2 minutes of play, while shooting 37.8% on the field and 34.5% deep and 81% on the free throw line.

Rockets were defeated by warriors

The Warriors became the seventh seed in NBA history, advanced to the semifinals and eliminated Houston in the playoffs. Between 2015 and 2019, Golden State defeated the Rockets led by James Harden four times.

Houston forced Game 7 with back-to-back wins in the series. Vanvleet has scored a total of 55 points in his last two games, but he hit 20 points on Sunday's 13-shot percentage of 6.

Amen Thompson led the Rockets with 24 points on 16 goals and 9, while Alperen Sengun finished with 21 points and a high of 14 rebounds. Vanvleet recorded 17 points, 7 boards, 3 assists and 2 steals.

Golden State beat Houston 33-27 in the fourth quarter and scored an impressive 43 from three-point shooting percentage. The Rockets only shot 18 of the 18 goals outside the arc.

“We have a chance in this series,” Rockets coach Ime Udoka said. “We all want to keep playing, so it's a disappointment. Now it's going to sting, but use it as motivation and let's come back better.”

The Warriors will now face the Timberwolves in Minnesota on Tuesday night.
