In two weeks, NBA training camp will begin. Most teams have a majority (if not all) in 15 squads. But, for the Golden State Warriors, that’s not the case.
As of September 15, the Warriors had only 9 out of 15 squads in 2025-26. That’s because Jonathan Kuminga still has no signatures during the offseason. He is Domino and will trigger the rest of the Golden State’s plans. NBA insiders reported that Golden State offered Cubinga a three-year, $75 million deal. This includes team options in season 3.

Jonathan Kuminga’s contract holds Golden State throughout the offseason. The Warriors’ front desk and Kubinga’s agent have been in talks for months. It’s an Offseaosn, with four restricted free agents waiting for signatures. Cam Thomas signed a one-year eligibility offer with Brooklyn. Josh Giddey signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Bulls. Jonathan Kuminga of Golden State and Quentin Grimes of Philadelphia are restricted free agents who are still unsigned.
On Monday, September 15, NBA Insider Shams Charania shared new information about the ongoing Jonathan Kuminga Saga. According to reports, Warriors General Manager Mike Dunleavy Jr., however, the third year of the contract was a team choice. Golden State offered $48.3 million in Kuninga when signing.

Jonathan Kuminga and his agent were hesitant. They believe the deal is more like a Warriors’ trading asset than a long-term commitment to Kubinga. Veterans in Golden State rosters, such as Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green, have reached out for the offseason. Despite the effort, Kubinga still has no signature.
According to Shams Charania, the key issue with this holding is team options. Jonathan Kuminga and his agent demanded a deal with the player in the third season. He only got a deal that did not include team choices during the offseason. It was a three-year, $54 million deal. The Warriors need to sign Jonathan Kuminga or trade him a few weeks before training camp. He restricted their plans throughout the offseason.
