The Giants recall Carson Seymour’s debut in Major League Baseball

Giant announces right-handed Sean Hjelle Triple A Sacramento has been selected as Sacramento Carson Seymour Recalled as a corresponding action. Seymour has already made his 40-man roster, but he will make his debut immediately after he competes.
Seymour, 26, is the Mets’ sixth round draft pick in 2021. He went to the Giants as part of the 2022 deadline deal Darin Ruf Go to the Metropolis and JD Davis To the giant. He continued to climb the minor league ladder with reliable results.
The right spent 2023 on the Double-A level, mainly as a starter. He recorded 112 2/3 innings in 23 games and made five relief appearances, earning 3.99 runs per 9. He hit 24.5% of the batsmen, took a walk with 9.2% of the clips, and obtained a mill ball in 49.5% of the balls. Last year, he rose to Triple-A and those numbers remained stable. He recorded 134 1/3 innings, strikeout rate of 22.1%, walking rate of 10.1% and 53.5% ground ball rate.
Last November, the Giants added Seymour to a 40-man roster and didn’t want him to stand out in the Rule 5 draft. He has largely continued to produce in the same way as in previous years. He threw 74 innings so far this year with a strikeout rate of 3.89 ERA, 25.6% strikeout rate, 11.4% walk rate and 53.6% ground ball rate.
Baseball America currently ranks Seymour as the 18th-ranked prospect in the Giants system, noting that his two-piece shoes are good at getting the ground, and his sliders are his best swing and lapses. The BA is concerned about his inconsistent changes, which leads them to think he may end up being a middle-level reliefer. Fangraphs is more optimistic, which makes him the system’s sixth place in the year, and he believes his sinking tablet is an effective weapon to resist left-handed, giving him more opportunities and thus more opportunities to stick to the start.
For now, Seymour is likely to give the Giants a fresh bullpen arm. They played 16 consecutive games in three straight games. Hjelle played in the first three games and may not be available for the next few days. Seymour will get his roster, putting him in a position to face a major league batsman for the first time.
