The Garners to Roslovic, Ekholm

Did the Vancouver Canucks make an offer to Jack Roslovic in today’s NHL rumor? It took him so long to find the login location in the free agent? Meanwhile, are the Edmonton Oilers want to sign Mathias Ekholm and find a potential replacement? Finally, Don Waddell confirmed in a recent interview that Adam Fox and his agents contributed to GM and his former team in trade and contract negotiations.
Jack Roslovic delays and canopies offer
Cam Robinson reported that UFA forward Jack Roslovic expects to take a while to find a new team. As a result, it wasn’t surprising that he didn’t land somewhere despite the interest of several teams. Robinson pointed out at the Secres and Price Show (7/28) that he was not 100% sure the Karnaks were also making a reliable offer in front of him.
Roslovic, 28, spent last season with the Carolina Hurricanes, scoring 22 goals and 39 points in 81 games. It can be said that he is the most eye-catching UFA and has not yet reached an agreement. The Canucks and Toronto Maple Leafs most often sign with him related to one of them. If a team like San Jose, Anaheim, Seattle or Buffalo pops up a conversation and signs a forward, no one will be surprised.
Are Oilers looking for a replacement for Mattias Ekholm?
When Mattias Ekholm enters the final year of his current contract, the Edmonton Oilers face potential dilemma of defense. Ekholm, acquired in 2023, quickly became the cornerstone of the blue line next to Evan Bouchard. But with age and injury doubts, General Manager Stan Bowman needs to complete a new deal while also considering inheritance plans.
As Allan Mitchell of Sports notes, there is no clear alternative. Former top prospect Philip Broberg is now with the Blues, while internal choices like Riley Stillman, Cam Dineen and prospect Paul Fischer and Atro Leppanen are not ready for top responsibilities. Compounding, Jake Walman and Brett Kulak may sign free agents next summer under contracts beyond 2025.
Mitchell wrote:
Bowman may be looking for a free agent pool next year, but Ekholm will be one of the award titles on July 1, 2026. As shown above, he has a strong performance level and his expected goal showed signs of a rebound before being injured.

Unless Bowman can find external help, re-signing Ekholm even in a short-term deal is crucial to avoid a significant gap in the Edmonton blue line.
Waddell reveals Adam Fox exits deal with Hurricane
Columbus Blue Jacket general manager Don Waddell revealed in an interview that Adam Fox avoided the Carolina hurricane after initially showing that he would sign with them. In 2018, Waddell exchanged Calgary’s Fox rights with the assurance of Fox’s Camp – Noah Hanifin and Elias Lindholm. But a few weeks later, Fox’s agent said he would only sign with the New York Rangers.
Carolina was forced to trade him to New York with two second-round picks in 2019. Waddle admitted he didn’t foresee the Fox star as the defender later won the Norris Trophy in 2021 and became the top NHL Blueliner. He added that you never forget something like this when dealing with players and agents, which shows that he still has some pain and resentment when dealing with Fox and his agents.
