Blues Signature Cam Fowler to 3-year extension – Hockey Writer – St. Louis Bruce

St. Louis Blues announced that defenseman Cam Fowler signed a three-year, $18.3 million contract extension with an average annual interest rate of $6.1 million.

Fowler, 33, was traded to the Blues by the Anaheim Ducks last season in December 2024 and traded with defenseman Jeremia Biakabutuka and the 2027 Bruce second-round pick with the 2027 Ducks. Fowler will also be an unrestricted free agent (UFA) during the 2026 offseason.

While the contract looks short, Fowler is near the end of his career, so it is no surprise that he signed a shorter deal. However, after winning him last season, Bruce suddenly raised his performance to the grand prize in 51 games against the Blues. He recorded only four points in his 17 games against the Ducks last season.

Fowler played a bigger role in the Blues roster, and they suffered a significant injury at Torey Krug’s defensive core ahead of the 2024-25 season. His efforts helped the Blues achieve a huge 12-game winning streak, which pushed them into the playoffs after two seasons without playoff hockey.

In the 2025 NHL playoffs, Fowler scored a team-leading 10 points in seven games in the first round of the Bruce against the Winnipeg Jets. However, that wasn’t enough, as the Blues lost in Game 7 overtime.

Fowler is the only UFA in the Blues’ top four, and he will be a free agent in 2026.
