Gillispie faced allegations of abuse of players when she was coaching at Texas Tech in 2011 and 2012.
In September 2012, he resigned from the Red Raiders coach on the grounds of health issues. The resignation comes a month after the school said it was investigating the claim.
Texas tech players reportedly expressed concern about how Gillisby treated them.
Kentucky fires Gillisby in 2009
Gillispie also faced doubts during her time in Kentucky, including treatment of players and staff in the sports department.
Gillispie was fired in 2009 and Kentucky athletic director said Gillispie was “not suitable for the program.” Later that year, a $3 million dismissal agreement was reached.
Gillispie, 65, entered his sixth season at Tarleton State, the longest of his five division coaching tenure. He has also coached at UTEP and Texas A&M.
The Abilene led the Texans to a record of 78-74 (.513), including the 25-10 (.714) marks and CIT appearances in 2023-24. He has won 226-182 (.554) in 13 seasons as a head coach who made four NCAA Championship appearances in 13 seasons.
Glynn Cyprien enters the 36th coaching season
Meanwhile, Cyprien is a long-time university assistant, including UNLV, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kentucky, Memphis and Texas Tech.
2025-26 sports will be Cyprien’s 36th season in the coaching career.
Cyprien has nearly three decades of experience between the NBA, NBA G League, NCAA Division I and junior Olympics.
In addition to his executive office experience with the Memphis Grizzlies, he has served as head coach, associate coach and assistant coach throughout his career.
As an assistant coach, Cyrpien has been part of 552 wins in 28 seasons at the college level. At the I division level, he participated in 12 NCAA competitions and 4 National Invitational (NIT).
