Grimsby Town

Grimsby Town shocked Manchester United, leading by two goals against the Premier League in both sides.
Charles Vernam and Tyrell Warren’s goal gave the Mariners a shocking advantage in the second round of the Calabo Cup draw at Blundell Park.
But at least the performance in the first half was at least what the host deserved, as they produced fearless performances in the face of the noisy family crowd to further accumulate United’s huge start in the new season.
Red Devils owner Ruben Amorim made wholesale changes to Fulham’s side in the Premier League over the weekend, but still appointed a strong starting team that included Harry Maguire, Matheus Cunha, Kobbie Mainoo and Benjamin Sesko, the club’s first game.
But there is little to do with the lengthy list of household names and shocking price tags in the visitor lineup, and it can’t stop Grimsby from being better.
It seemed uneasy about their top opposition, two senior players in the league – currently unbeaten – deserved to take the lead when Vernam fired home from Darragh Burns in 22 minutes.
It’s been two hours since Andre Onana’s half an hour, with little waving his critics, far from the cross to the left, allowing former Manchester United Academy player Warren to steal the ball and thrust the ball into an empty net.
Sesko then had a chance to cut the deficit in half, but shot the towering Slovenian in Grimsby goalkeeper Christy Pym.
The severe Carabao cup impact seemed to be on the card.
