I’m lucky enough to be in a niche in the golf industry where I can try, test, and use equipment that I don’t have to pay for. But sometimes, either to replenish my own inventory, to secretly test, or just because I really want something, I do spend my own money on golf equipment. So while I know I’m extremely lucky in my situation, I still want my readers and followers to feel confident when spending their hard-earned money.
Here are five of my favorite things I’ve tested this year that I would buy again if they were taken away from me.
Wilson Staff X Golf Ball
I’ve made no secret of my love and fascination with the Wilson Staff Model X golf ball. I believe this ball has given me more confidence on the golf course this year than ever before, and it’s the only piece of equipment that hasn’t changed all year long. I put the ball into action early this year and it stuck. This is a spin-heavy golf ball that is very stable in the wind, doesn’t tear up on the wedges, and still spins within a reasonable window off the tee. In my opinion, there’s little they can do to improve this golf ball, but I’m excited to see what they might do with the next generation of golf balls.
Just take a look at my article to see what my obsession is.
Wilson Staff X Golf Ball
The Wilson Staff Model® The Staff Model X is designed for players who want a consistent, fast ball with a longer club and more spin off the tee and irons. Each Staff Model X ball is painted using a finely controlled spray process, ensuring a near-perfect finish for the highest level of performance.

mini drive
Mini drives are great for many reasons. The best part is that the market has a lot of options now. My personal favorite is the Callaway Elyte Mini because it sits in a really nice spin window, is very accurate off the tee, and if I really have to hit it off the deck, I can. The best part of any mini drive is the versatility of its construction. I’ve done everything from a 42″ R7 Quad Mini with an 83g axle weight to a 45″ BRNR with a 50g axle weight. There’s a lot you can do with a mini driver. I still don’t like trying to replace your actual driver with a mini, but, your club is your club. So whatever puts the ball in the fairway, I feel good about it. (If you’re wondering why I don’t consider it a driver replacement, read my article).
If you’re looking for control like me, I recommend trying Callaway’s Elyte Mini. If you’re looking for an absolute bomber, I recommend trying the TaylorMade R7 Quad Mini.

Payyntr 87 SC golf spikes
First of all, spikeless shoes are not golf shoes. Anyone who says that is wrong. Proper golf spikes with replaceable traction have significant advantages. (As a disclaimer, I’ve been working with the Softspikes team for a few years now, and I’ve done some research and testing to prove this, and I can’t wait to continue sharing on this platform.) That being said, the Payyntr 87 SC golf spikes are by far my favorite. Right out of the box, they are more comfortable than every other golf cleat I own except Skechers (yes, Skechers). I can walk 36 holes a day with no issues and they are the perfect combination of stability and comfort. The only downside I can think of is that there are only two studs on the heel, but honestly, that’s just nitpicking on my part. I’ve never had a problem with slipping. Play in the rain, stroll among fallen leaves, or stand on a hillside; it doesn’t matter. Plus, they were co-designed with my favorite golfer, Jason Day. So bonus points.

The TPU outsole features a Fast Twist insert system that provides three-dimensional traction throughout the life of the shoe. PMXNitro+ footbed provides lightweight, responsive cushioning for the life of the shoe. PMXNitro+ midsole provides maximum energy return and ultimate foot support. CARBITEX GearFlex™️ Propulsion Plate allows golfers to utilize ground reaction forces more efficiently. *Discount not applicable to this style*

Motocaddy M7 remote control (new model)
Getting an electric cart last year was a huge change in my game. I really enjoy walking, especially in cold spring or fall weather where you don’t sweat too much, but I have knee problems and having to push a stroller or carry a bag can be more difficult than I’d like. So when Motocaddy enters the equation, something happens so Much better. I have other friends who have electric strollers and it’s more fun to play and walk with them. Walking with friends is a very pleasant thing. It’s great to have conversations when you’re walking down the fairway and feel freer to think about your shot as you walk toward the ball. The new Motocaddy M7 Remote is very stylish, has a new battery design, no wires, and is very simple to use. The remote is self-explanatory, easy to use, and has a very long range of control. It’s also very convenient to take with you to the stadium. Just flip a few levers to fold it down to a very compact size. If you love walking but want to lighten the physical strain, the Motocaddy M7 Remote is the perfect choice for you.

Toulon Golf Formula 45 Championship
The Toulon Golf Formula 45 is a truly unique product. When Toulon decided to enter the low-torque putter market, they wanted to do something different. They wanted to do something to add to the category rather than throw out a Toulon-branded option just for the sake of having an option. The Formula 45 is a 45° toe-up putter. It’s still incredibly low in torque compared to Toulon Golf’s standard Miami mallet, while allowing players to arc the putt in a more traditional manner during impact. Players who have been using bats for most of their careers, or who are very focused on standard putting strokes, can see a huge advantage in Formula 45 compared to Formula 90 or other forward-facing style designs.

Toulon Golf Formula 45 Putter
The Toulon Golf Formula 45 takes the low-torque putter trend and adjusts it for golfers accustomed to more traditional putter shots.
