Solskjaer Besiktas goes out to fire

Former Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer fell into the conference league after he was fired by Turkish club Besiktas.

Solskjaer took the Istanbul side to fourth place last season.

But the 1-0 home defeat by Swiss side Lausanne means the club will not play European football this season, and the club rejected the Norwegian after the game ended.

Other favorites including AZ Alkmaar, Fiorentina, Rayo Vallecano and Mainz are all cruising at Strasbourg while continuing to cruise at Brondby’s victory.

In Istanbul, British striker Nathan Butler-Oyedeji added his only goal in the first half as Lausanne was unhappy with Besiktas.

The home team played with 10 men after defender Felix Uduokhai was sent to Brandon Soppy in the 46th minute for a foul.

The club then issued a statement saying they held an emergency meeting.

“Our contract with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been terminated due to decisions during the board meeting. Our President Serdal Adali expresses his gratitude to Solskjaer for his service.”

Former Manchester United, Cardiff City and Moord boss Solskjaer was hired in January and promoted Besiktas from Super Lig to fourth place. His team has won the only league game so far this season.
