Six months later, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray ended their partnership

Murray, 37, said he sometimes feels embarrassed by all the attention Melbourne receives as Djokovic’s wider team has done an “incredible job” over the years.

He and Djokovic have maintained a good friendship on the tour, have been born for a few weeks and have grown into a junior high school rival.

He joined Djokovic's team at a critical moment. Djokovic won a controversial Olympic gold medal in 2024, but it was the only championship he won that year, losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the Wimbledon final.

Speaking in January, Djokovic said he was “surprised” with his coach's “dedication and professionalism.”

“It's natural for him. His IQ is generally high and tennis. He observed that the most important thing was speaking.”

“I think he understands the moment he needs to say something, what to say and what to ask.

“I have to say it’s a weird feeling to be able to share insight with him, not just about the feeling of the game, but about my life in life in general.

“It’s not in a negative way, but in some way, doing it with him because he’s always been one of my greatest competitors.”
