It’s time to unravel the NHL off-season schedule

Bob Duff: “Well, I’ve all been Canadian since July 1. I’ve never been able to celebrate Canada Day for my entire career, so when all my friends go to parties and fireworks, it’s good, I just go on the phone and computer all day trying to see the latest moves.

Berlinger: “Yeah, no, I totally understand. I mean, usually it dies before the holiday on July 4. But even so, I think if we move it away, maybe we’re in the offseason, we won’t see that we’ve been in a stumbling block since the second week of July.”
Duff: “And I think they’ve tried for a few years, and I think they actually gave the team a window to talk to the players before the signing period begins. And, I don’t know, I don’t know, if you give them the first two weeks of July, you can even have both parties talk and do what there and then start in the 15th century. In measuring your case, you don’t know, I have to make this offer right away because tomorrow may not be there.
As a team, if you lose this person, at least this person is interested. Better measure what you can and can’t do. And I think it will help a lot of teams and it may reduce the stress of the players who deal with free agents because I’ve talked to big names who have gone through this and they say that even if it’s only a few hours, you don’t have a few hours of work, it’s stressful. ”
Berlinger: “No, I can imagine it. The truth is, we all know that everyone is talking about it, but in fact, like a winter meeting or a summer meeting or a summer conversation period will certainly solve some of the problems we have right now.”
