Sharks beat Kraken 6-1 – Hockey Writer – San Jose Sharks

The Seattle Kraken host the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday, November 5th in their first game of the season. The Kraken just had a home win over the Chicago Blackhawks in their previous game. San Jose also played its final game at home, losing in a shootout to the Detroit Red Wings. The Sharks are now 6-1 against the Kraken.

Just one minute into the game, the Sharks struck first. As the Kraken tried to clear the puck out of the Sharks’ zone, John Klingberg passed the puck to Tyler Toffoli, who deflected the puck. He passed it to MacLean Celebrini in center ice. He scored the first goal of the game with a quick shot.

As time expired in the first quarter, the Kraken tied the score. With three and a half minutes left, Ryan Winterton skated the puck through the neutral zone and into the net. He shot but it was blocked by Jaroslav Askarov. Shane Wright caught the rebound and passed it to Ryan Lindgren at the blue line. He passed it back to Winterton in center ice. His shot hit the corner of the net for his first NHL goal.

Two minutes later, Jeff Skinner stole the puck from the Kraken in the neutral zone. He skated the ball to the front of the net with Alexander Weinberg and passed it to him. Weinberg passed the puck to Ethan Caldwell, who fired a shot past Joey Daccord to give San Jose the lead again.

11 minutes into the second quarter, Jani Niemann came on for interfering with Klingberg. On the power play, the Sharks kept the puck in the offensive zone. Will Smith passed the ball to Klingberg at the blue line. He got his revenge with a shot on the power play.

One minute into the third period, Smith received a puck from Mario Ferraro as he came onto the ice after a line change. He scored the Sharks’ fourth goal of the night.

Immediately after the goal, Toffoli gave Chandler Stephenson a high stick shot. The Sharks were successful despite losing a player. Colin Graff steals puck from Vince Dunn. He skated and shot on a breakaway, but Daccord made the save. Ty de la Landria followed, grabbing the rebound and scoring San Jose’s fifth goal of the night.

With 16:36 left in the third quarter, Kraken pulled Daccord and Matt Murray entered the crease. 30 seconds later, Toffoli broke through the net and scored, and Murray won 6-1.

Next step

The Sharks return home to face the Winnipeg Jets on Friday, November 7th. The Kraken will face the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, November 8th.

Ten days later on November 15th, the Kraken will host the Sharks again for the second game of this season series.
