Sebastian Korda won his third ATP Tour title at the Delray Beach Open on Sunday, beating fifth-seeded compatriot Tommy Paul 6-4, 6-3 in the final.
A 2021 Delray Beach finalist, Korda went one step further and became the event’s ninth U.S. champion. With the title, the 25-year-old rises to No. 40 in the PIF ATP live rankings.
“[It means] a lot of. I’ve been through some things over the last few months and years,” Korda said. “I’ve lost a lot of finals and now won one in Del Rey – my first ATP final – so it’s like a full day. I’m just happy.”

On a blustery afternoon, Korda stayed close to the baseline and dictated the game with confident strokes. According to Infosys ATP statistics, he got the decisive break at 5-4 in the first set and held his ground on serve, scoring 83% of points on his first serve. Korda bravely dug out from the 0/40 hole in the service game and saved the fourth break point after the game and finally sealed the championship after 1 hour and 22 minutes.
“It was tricky. We were all struggling out there and it was super windy,” Korda said. “I’m just trying to get the ball down the field. I was born and raised in Florida, so I’m kind of used to the wind, but this is definitely extreme.”
Korda eliminated three of the top five seeds this week, including No. 2 seed Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals and No. 3 seed Flavio Coboli in the semifinals.
In the second national final of the season (Dallas), Korda defeated Paul 5-2 in the Lexus ATP Head2Head Series. Sunday is their first gathering in 20 months (Queen’s Club 2024). Paul, 28, is aiming to win his fifth ATP Tour trophy.
Korda did not play in the game between Roland Garros and Winston-Salem last year while recovering from a stress fracture in his right tibia that left him using a boot and crutches.
