Sebastian Korda earned his 150th Tour-level victory and a measure of revenge with a crisp opening performance at the Nexo Dallas Open on Monday night.

Three weeks after losing to Michael Cheng at the Australian Open, Korda beat the Columbia University star 6-3, 6-4 to kick off his ATP 500 campaign. Korda reached the final of the ATP Challenger Tour event in San Diego a week ago, and the victory continues his recent success on home soil.

Korda now has a 150-100 tour record and is the sixth person born in the 2000s to reach the 150-win mark.

Korda lost just one point on first serve against Zheng, winning 29 of the 30 points after his first serve, according to Infosys ATP statistics. He saved the only break point he faced, which came when he was serving in the first set. Zheng Zhi scored his first tour-level victory in Melbourne last month, and Korda’s victory tied the pair’s Lexus ATP Head2Head series at 1-1.

Eighth-seeded Frances Tiafoe also advanced with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 victory over Terrence Altmann on Monday. Tiafoe, who has a perfect 4-0 record in Dallas, will be looking for the biggest title of his career this week after reaching the ATP 500 finals in Vienna (2021) and Tokyo (2022).

“It’s nice to get over it. I lost a lot of these matches last season, probably a year ago,” said Tiafoe, playing in her first tournament since the Australian Open. “To be able to not hit the panic button and keep going, trusting my legs… I felt like I was in good shape so I could run and be strong out there.”

Brandon Nakashima also advanced with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Mattia Bellucci, but third-seeded Alejandro Davidovich Fokina held off a sweep on the day with a 6-4, 7-6(1) victory over qualifier Zachary Svajda. The Spaniard reaches the second round in Dallas for the second consecutive year; the No. 14 player in the PIF ATP Rankings is seeking his first ATP Tour title and second indoor final after reaching the Basel Championship last October.
