Seamus Coleman signs extension with Everton

Everton captain Seamus Coleman has been in the 17th season with the club after agreeing to sign a one-year contract.
The 36-year-old right-back joined the Toffees in 2009 and has become a great servant during his long term at Goodison Park.
Coleman has played 428 games in all Everton’s matches, with his 369 Premier League games being the most matches of any player in club history.
“I love Everton, so continuing to play for this particular club means everything to me and my family,” said the International Republic of Ireland.
“Like our enthusiastic fans, I have lived and breathed through the hardships of the past few years and have done everything I can to help us through it.”
His previous contract expired at the end of June, but the new deal ensures Coleman will be part of Everton’s transition to their new home at Dickinson Stadium in Hills after 133 years.

He added: “Thanks to the hard work of many people, we were able to enter our grand new stadium and pave the way for a better future for an ambitious new owner, which is part of what I want to be.”
“After the disappointing time of injury last season, my focus will be to work hard, spend as much time on the court as possible and to help Everton as I can.”
Coleman was limited to five league games in the 2024-25 season due to injury. Despite his time off the court, he played a leadership role on the court, briefly entering temporary management with U18S coach Leighton Baines after Sean Dyche was fired in January.
Everton manager David Moyes said: “His leadership, professionalism and humanity are second to none.
“He has helped the club through some tough times over the past few years and his influence in the locker room has been so.
“This could be a time when the club really changes and I hope someone can help convey the message of what it means to be an Everton footballer. Seamus has been doing this and I know he will continue to do it as we enter a new era.”
