Sabre Signature Bowen Byram

Buffalo Sabres announced on Monday (July 14) that they re-signed restricted free agent (RFA) guard Bowen Byram, with a two-year extension worth $6.25 million.

Back in March 2024, Saber acquired Byram from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Casey Mittelstadt.

The Sabres, like their rights, were elected to conduct salary arbitration for Byram, but they avoid completing transactions before any arbitration meeting begins.

Byram, 24, scored seven goals in 82 games last season with the Sabres and added 31 points in 82 games. He scored 33 goals throughout his career and added 110 points in 246 games to score 110 points with an average of 0.45 points.

Last season, he struggled a little in the analysis department. Look at his numbers:

It is believed that several teams, including the Calgary Flames and the Los Angeles Kings, have been following Blaam’s situation with the Saber in hopes of landing him in the trade, but he is now out of the market and will be the Saber for at least the next two seasons.

After re-signing Byram, Sabres now have $7,390,319 in projected cap space, and they will eventually end up with a long playoff drought in the 2025-26 season.
