Ryder Cup Star Confirmed as Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship – Golf News

Ryder Cup star and Rolex Series champion Matt Fitzpatrick, Tyrrell Hatton and Robert MacIntyre are the latest players in the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, held on November 6-9 at YAS Links.

The trio will join the dominant Masters champion and professional Grand Slam champion Rory McIlroy in a world-class field for the opening match of the DP World Tour on Yas Island.

The quartet played a role in Europe’s stunning 16½–11½ wins at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in Rome, and is currently hoping to defend the trophy this week on Bethpage Black in New York.

The world’s ninth MacIntyre enjoyed a strong season worldwide, finishing second at the U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club, BMW Championship at Caves Valley Golf Club and seventh in the 153rd Open Championship at Royal Porthush.

McIntyre said: “I really enjoyed completing the entire season in the Middle East and I look forward to returning to Abu Dhabi to compete in the first of two big events later this year. It was a strong start for my year, with some great memories on the YAS link and I hope to keep that momentum and keep myself on the chances of the season.

2019 Abu Dhabi champion Hatton returned after finishing second in YAS Links last year. He currently ranks fourth in the Dubai rankings after winning the Heroes Dubai Desert Classic in January and finished fourth in the 2025 U.S. Open.

“I got some great memories in the UAE competition, especially in 2019, and won great memories in Dubai this year,” Hatton said. “Yas Island is an incredible destination to see and do a lot, and there is always a wonderful atmosphere in this game, so I look forward to returning to Abu Dhabi and starting the DP World Tour playoffs.

Fitzpatrick, the 2022 U.S. Open champion, continued a consistent 2025 campaign worldwide, including six top ten, including fourth place in Northern Ireland’s 153rd Open.

The nine-time DP World Tour champion will hope to build on his recent momentum and hope that as the playoffs progress, his name will add another Rolex series to his name.

“I’m really looking forward to returning to Abu Dhabi and starting the DP World Tour playoffs,” Fitzpatrick said. “Abu Dhabi has always been a great place to play and I hope to be able to get through my recent form and give myself a chance to end the season.”

The HSBC Abu Dhabi Championship was performed by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour. It is the first season performance at the end of the DP World Tour season.
