Ryder Cup practice ticket price plummets

When the US PGA announced the fares last fall at the 2025 Ryder Cup held at Bethpage Black, the numbers attracted golf fans who spitted collectively, or at least on social media. The game-day gate pass is $750 for the Prince (including food and drinks), which is a 400% markup for Rome’s 2023 Ryder Cup.
The practice game is also steep: $255 on Tuesday and Wednesday and $424 on Thursday, which is the prevalence and environment of the Junior Ryder Cup, celebrity competitions, and opening ceremony.
Tickets for all rounds sold out in 48 hours, which suggests that the US PGA has been properly priced at least in terms of reading market demand.
But, with the week ahead of Ryder Cup week, is there still the same demand?
For the answer, we turn to the secondary market where inflation or airfare prices are excellent indicators of the popularity of events. (See: Swift, Taylor.) Comments on Monday morning of the list released by three main ticket sellers (StubHub, vivid seating and Gametime) showed that demand for game days is still high.
When shopping for tickets, the average ticket price for the three dealers is $1,308 per ticket, Saturday’s average price of $1,107 and Sunday’s singles game of $798. All of these rates are located in the north of the original asking price, although it will be only $48 on Sunday. And don’t be surprised if prices start to drop as the week goes on, especially if a team opens a considerable lead on Friday or Saturday.
However, the practice rate tells a different story.
Check out only the StubHub, which is currently the lowest priced on practice day, you can get only $83 in your Tuesday ticket (if you buy it in pairs), while the tickets on Wednesday are $117. The price on Thursday also gradually dropped to $112, partly a prediction of rain. (Seat Geek is the official ticket supplier for PGA in the United States, and there is no list of the following values shown.) These prices represent 65%, 50%, and 74% price cuts, respectively.
The meaning of the story? New York area fans are sprinting to watch Ryder Cup stars hits, but only if these shots are important.
