United were linked to the moves of Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap during the summer transfer window, but manager Ruben Amorim has other preferences.
According to journalist Graeme Bailey, Manchester United had a split on their transfer plans. Apparently, Jason Wilcox is keen on the move for Delap this summer, and Manchester United football has set him as the top target.
But Ruben Amorim wants a more experienced option to lead the team next season, and he prefers to act for Viktor Gyokeres or Victor Osimhen.

Bailey told UIF: “Manchester United splits their new striker program. LiamDelap has become a major goal in the football department – Technical Director Jason Wilcox firmly believes that the striker in Ipswich Town is the best choice for the club.
“But, Amorim and his coaching staff think that preparing members’ ninth will be their better route as a team.”
Interestingly, whether United will change their transfer plans in the next few days. There is no doubt that they need a quality striker in the summer.

Despite Ipswich's relegation, Delap has performed very well this season and will undoubtedly be a quality long-term investment. However, Gyokeres is at the pinnacle of his strength and he is excellent at the Sporting CP. There is no doubt that he is one of the best players in the world right now and he can make an immediate impact on Old Trafford. In addition, he has worked with Amorim at the Portuguese club and he should be able to settle in Manchester United quickly.
Likewise, Osimhen is the highest level of validated performer, and he can make an immediate impact. Interestingly, whether United decided to give up on their pursuit of Drapp in order to move for an experienced striker.
Players like Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund have been overwhelmed and need to be replaced in the summer. A high-quality striker will become the top priority for Manchester United to enter the transfer window.
