Mozeliak plans to meet Arenado before the deadline

Trade deadline is 10 days, Cardinal Baseball Operations president John Mozeliak said he plans to Nolan Arenado Next week (passed by John Denton of MLB.com). It will be an exploratory discussion to see if the 10-time Gold Glove champion has changed ideas about potential trade. Arenado has the right to be completely trade-free and famously invoked the clause to kill an offseason deal that brought him to Houston.
Arenado reportedly wants more time to evaluate the astronaut’s instructions Kyle Tucker. Offseason reports suggest he only has the interest to approve a deal with five clubs: Yankees, Padres, Dodgers, Red Sox and possibly have a better feel for their competitive prospects. None of these teams seem to show great interest except Houston. They continue to sign Christian Walker When Arenado doesn’t accept the deal immediately.
The Red Sox, Dodgers and Padres all built third basemen. ((Max Munchy Currently on Los Angeles’ injury list, but he expects the Dodgers are not going to trade third base in August. ) Although Houston did lose Isaac Paredes For the pressure of hamstrings, their luxury tax threshold is no more than a few million dollars, and it is extremely unlikely to trade for competition. The Yankees definitely need a third baseman, but Jon Heyman of the New York Post wrote earlier this month that the New York front desk was worried about Arenado’s offensive production drops in the mid-30s. This goes back to the offseason with reports from various Yankees beating writers, which downplays the team’s interest.
If Arenado’s trade preferences remain unchanged, it’s hard to see a deal come together. Even if he is willing to expand his destination list, it may still be the case. His Bats fell for three consecutive seasons. Arenado entered tonight’s game with a .241/.299/.381 slash, his worst figure in the entire season since his 2013 rookie year. His salary is 32mm and the Rockies covers $5mm. Next year he will make 27mm (again with Colorado paying 5mm) and 2027’s 15mm. It’s still a good achievement for a player who looks like the league average hitter at the moment, even if he’s still a quality defender.
Mozeliak admits that, as it is currently, he “will think of (arenado) as a part of it in the future.” This reflects the challenge of forming an alliance on the deal, although the front desk leader added: “If something is to pop up, I will definitely discuss it with him.” Regardless, it seems increasingly possible for the Cardinal to deal with some veterans. They try to find someone who struggles with a starting pitcher Erick Fedde. Last week’s report shows they are raising interest in the upcoming free agent rescuers Ryan Helsley,,,,, Phil Marton and Steven Matz.
That was before they were swept by the Rattlesnakes in their first series in the All-Star Game. NL Central appears to be a two-horse match between the Bear and the Winemaker. These cards dropped four games behind Padres to get the final wild card spot, with the Giant between the Red and the Giant. They are already 4-10 this month (waiting for the results of the game in Colorado tonight). After expectations exceeded expectations for most of the season, as the front desk picks the direction.
Mozeliak acknowledged the downward trend, especially the recent sweep, sounds more suitable for sales. “Obviously, the weekend is not what we want to see, and now we have to understand what the future looks like,” he told reporters. “Our position in the rankings will certainly affect our decisions on the deadline. It’s not useful to play these three games and lose those three games.
The team still has some tracks to return to the race. They should expect to win a series against the Rockies, and sweeps aren’t surprising. They will then have a direct showdown with one of their top competitors as they hosted the Padres for four games to end the week. They will welcome the Marlins to the last three games at Busch Stadium by the deadline.
