Mammoth’s Tij Iginla invites to the 2025 NHLPA Rookie Showcase – Hockey Writer – Utah Mammoth Prospect

On Tuesday, the NHLPA announced a roster of the upcoming 2025 NHLPA rookie showcase box in Arlington, Virginia. The display cabinet is an opportunity for the upper deck to take photos and videos of some entry into the top prospects of the hockey cards and other souvenirs in the NHL. The event will be held on September 3 at Medstar Cocitals Iceplex Arena, a practice facility in the Washington capital. However, it will be open to the public.

Utah Mammoth will be represented this season by Tij Iginla, who was ranked sixth by the team in 2024 and the son of NHL legend Jarome Iginla. Since the Mammoth has a large number of top prospects in its system, such as Dmitriy Simashev, Caleb Desnoyers, Daniil and Cole Beaudoin, it provided focus for Iginla after an injury-distant season and got a light on his former future prospects.

Iginla joins a new show

Last season, Utah’s representative for the game was Josh Doan, who continued to split between the NHL and the American Hockey League and then packed it with Michael Kesselring in the JJ Peterka deal. Now, it’s Iginla’s turn to be with the top NHL rookies. Some notable names include Jimmy Snuggerud, Matthew Schaefer and Ryan Leonard among others.

Iginla spent some time with the Utah organization before the 2024-25 season, playing in some preseason and rookie tournaments. However, Iginla was returned to the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Conference Hockey League in the team’s second season, and he scored 84 points in 2023-24.

After scoring 32 points in his first 21 games, it was announced that Ekinla will undergo hip surgery. Although initially thought it was just a surgery on the right side of his hip, he actually held the second surgery on the left side of his hip in January. Iginla missed the rest of the 2024-25 season, including the youth of the world.

As he left, Iginla watched a lot of hockey, a lot in the weight room, regained her strength. During Mammoth’s development camp in 2025, he finally returned to the ice and looked great after not playing hockey for nearly half a year. Even though he skated around, he wore a contactless jersey and did not play football in camp games. However, he is expected to be ready for the 2025-26 season.

Shortly after Iginla was drafted last July, Iginla did sign his entry-level deal so he will challenge the NHL position this season. He will face some challenges, though, as most prospects will also challenge the entire season last year. However, this is not impossible. As mentioned, Ikinla looks good during development training camp, and it’s no surprise if he works hard on the ice this summer, if he continues throughout the preseason.

While another season with Rockets won’t be hurt, Ikina’s goal is obviously to be the NHL. He stayed with the team a lot in the last preseason. Can he make it longer? This will be answered soon, but for now, Iginla is with other very talented players as we get closer and closer to the rookie training camp and the start of the NHL season.
