Royals acquire Diego Castillo – MLB Trade Rumor

Royals have acquired infielder Diego Castillo According to his transaction tracker on MLB.com, from the Mets. He has been assigned to Triple-A Omaha. The log does not specify the metropolis' received returns, but it seems to be a cash transaction.
Castillo is a 27-year-old infielder, not to be confused with the 31-year-old pitcher of the same name, the Rockies system in a minor league trade. The infielder signed a minor league contract with the Mets in the offseason and has played 13 and three games so far this season. He has a rough .167/.217/.262 line, although it is a small sample of 46 board appearances and an average score of .188 hits on the ball in the game.
This performance may not help him with the Mets' status. Additionally, the club's infield photos are much better than the year they started. Jeff McNeill The season started on the injured roster, but has been back for a few weeks. Brett Baty It keeps heating up after the cold starts. Luisangel Acuña Good enough to act as a bench. Ronnie Mauricio Failed in 2024 due to the ACL tear, and returned to the court and competed in the minor league game.
For members of the royal family Michael Messi and Jonathan India After a tough time, the second basic production wasn't great. Royals received a collective .217/.251/.280 line from Keystone this year, with Massey taking up most of the game time. This resulted in a WRC+ of 44, which puts the Royals only ahead of the Rockies in the Rockies, attacking from that position. They just remember Nick Loftin The corresponding movement as an outfielder Hunter Renfroe was designated as an assignment, so Castillo might take Loftin's place in the Omaha lineup.
Although Castillo started the game slowly this year, his minor league performance was stable. From 2021 to now, he has stepped on the farm with a 13.3% walk rate, a 14.9% strikeout rate, a .278/.377/.418 line and a 108 WRC+ step on the plate. Defensively, he spent some time on all four infield spots and around the corners of the outfield. His MLB batting line is only .208/.257/.383, but that's a fairly small sample size for 292 sets, most of which are accompanied by the 2022 Buccaneers.
