Rowdy Tellez signs to deal with minor leagues

Rangers are signing free agents Rowdy Tellez Compliant with minor league contracts, Salmon who reported the athletic ability. Tellez was released by sailors last week.
Now, Tellez seems to be a more one-dimensional player than ever, providing a powerful force for right-hand pitching without much else. He has put forward negative defensive metrics on first base every season of his career, including the -5 dr and -5 OAA in 393 innings against Seattle this year. Not surprisingly, he is also a poor basic athlete, with the slowest sprint speed among qualified runners in 2025. According to Fangraphs, he also produced negative base value in all eight seasons of his career.
Of course, no one expects Tellez to be a valuable guard or baseman. What made the Mariners even more disappointing was his contact and basic skills decline. His chase and whip are much bigger than in recent years, and the result is his worst walking distance ratio since his first major league coffee in 2018. His power remains. Indeed, he played at the highest career pace (15.9%), so he beat six doubles and 11 home runs in just 62 games and beat 185 games. However, while the Mariners have protected him so effectively from left-handed pitching, his worsening plate discipline canceled his .891 OPS contact, while his overall batting line with Seattle was below league average (92 WRC+).
That being said, Tellez’s .217 Babip with the Mariners is well below his .259 career average to enter the season, while the 54-point gap between his .293 Woba and .347 Xwoba is the 12th-ranked point in the league (Min. 180PA). So, there are still some reasons to believe that Taylorze can overcome his shortcomings of becoming a productive major league in 2025. If any team will give him a chance to try, it is Wanderer. Their team-wide 91 WRC+ pitched to the right-handed is the fifth time in the sport, with only the Pirates, Royals, White Sox and Rockies. and Joc Pederson A few weeks away from Illinois’ return, signing Tellez is a low-risk and potentially advanced action for Texas.
