Manchester United legend Gary Neville made it clear that his old club needs to sign a new goalkeeper after a 1-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday.

Riccardo Calafiori won the Gunners after a terrible mistake from Man UTD goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Bayindir started by Andre Onana, who has also performed poorly against the Red Devils recently, so it is not surprising that Neville hopes to see a new goalkeeper join.

After the game, Neville appointed Aston Villa’s goal-shot Emiliano Martinez as the ideal signing, becoming Manchester United’s No. 1.

“It’s an obvious problem for Manchester United and cannot be ignored, that is they really need to find the goalkeeper,” Neville said in his Sky Sports podcast.

“This requires a permanent signing or loan. The two you mentioned in the past few weeks are Martinez and Donnama.”

He added: “We have seen Martinez play in the World Cup final. They play under great pressure and they can handle it. Manchester United needs it.

“I think they need to sort the goalkeepers because they will continue to acknowledge goals and points and will ruin your work.

“I’ve said for years, you need personality, character and stability in the position. I think United needs to deal with it in the next few weeks.”

Positive factors from Manchester United failure to Arsenal

If it weren’t for Bedi Dier’s mistake, we’d probably have seen Manchester United beat Arsenal today.

MUFC dominated most of the game, with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya needing some great savings to keep clean sheets.

If United had someone like Martinez and had more luck before scoring, there would be a decent team there.
