Briton Neal Skupski and American Mixs Doubles partner Desirae Krawczyk missed the chance to lose the second consecutive French Open final in the last four games.
The two won two Wimbledon championships together and lost 3-6 7-6 (7-2) [12-10] In the fourth seeds in the United States, Taylor Townsend and Evan King were in a tense encounter with Simonne-Mathieu.
Skupski and Krawczyk lost to Germany’s Laura Siegemund and France’s Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the final last year in Roland Garros.
Skupski has booked his place in the men’s doubles semifinals with fellow compatriot Joe Salisbury on Tuesday.
Briton Luke Johnson missed Monaco’s 16th seeds Hugo Nys of Monaco and Roger-Vasselin’s semifinals and was unable to replicate successfully with Dutch partner Sander, losing 6-4 3-6 6-2.
