Real Madrid can poach leading transfer targets

Man United wants to sign Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba

This week was a busy guy for Man United, who confirmed the arrival of RB Leipzig’s forward Benjamin Sesko. Before the deal is completed, they turn their attention to the next highest goal: Carlos Baleba.

Baleba, 21, has risen rapidly since signing with Brighton in 2023 and is now considered one of the best young midfielders in football in the world. United takes him very seriously, which is why the club owners are eager to bring him to Old Trafford.

However, given that United need to raise a lot of money after signing Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Sesko, a deal has been described as extremely unlikely. Meanwhile, Brighton has no sales pressure, especially after the summer transfer window. But the situation may mean that action is still taken.

Former Premier League forward Troy Deeney spoke on TalkSport (via TeamTalk) and told Man United to sign Baleba now – otherwise there is a risk that other clubs will take action themselves in 2026.

“I think United have to get Baalba at this window or they don’t get him. If he has a good season, I do think other teams with Real Madrid and others will come in and go ‘bosh, we’ll have him’.

“I think if United wanted him…if I was Ruben Amorim, I was a little optimistic about it. I would say ‘get this deal because then I could take you into Europe.

It will be interesting to see if United seriously try to sign Baleba this summer, but before that, they will have to sell Alejandro Garnacho, Jaden Sancho and Anthony, as that will allow enough money to be raised.
