Castillo has technically appeared in five Major League Baseball seasons, although he appeared in Padres in addition to eight games in his 2018 rookie season. That year, he scored a 3.29 ERA in 38 1/3 innings, but then retreated from injury.

The 29-year-old signed a minor league contract with the snake in November. It marks his second straight season in the Arizona organization. He spent the whole day on Reno's Triple-A last year, despite losing to injury in the first half of that season. The Rattlers assigned him back to Reno, and the season began. He hit seven games when throwing seven innings in a round of 5 1/3 and was called in early May.

6'6″ Southpaw only spent a few weeks in Torey Lovullo's bullpen. He was in poor form in pitching, allowing 10 hits (including three-man home runs) for 8 runs in 6 1/3 frames. Arizona Kendall Graveman Returned with injury. Castillo has no choice, so they need to specify his task to take him away from the MLB list.

Status outside the option means the Mets are ready to give Castillo at least some time in their Major League bullpen. He is the only southern claw in Carlos Mendoza's relief army. Cabrera managed five single shots in four outings, but before the promotion he walked nearly 15% of his opponent batsmen in Triple-A.

Once Castillo reports to the team, the Mets will need to remove someone from the MLB bullpen. Dedniel Núñez is the obvious candidate because he still has several options. Cabrera is not a choice, so if the Mets want to use Castillo as the only left-handed, they need to designate him for assignment.

Hurt gave up his position in the 40-man lineup. The Mets claim the 34-year-old’s waiver was last offseason, which was a waiver from Milwaukee. He only spent a day on the MLB roster, allowing two hits in one inning. Otherwise, he has been working out in the bullpen in Syracuse. Elter only allowed five runs in 15 2/3 innings, but that was the pedestrian's strike-to-walking ratio of 13:7. A year ago, Milwaukee's top farm team had a much higher strikeout rate of 32.4% three appearances.

The Mets may put Huffle on the waiver in the next few days. His career has been completely unveiled twice, and if no one claims it, he has the right to elect a free agent.
