Rattlesnake claims Gus Varland; designates Kendall Graveman and Jeff Brigham for missions

Rattlesnakes announce their claim to be right-handed Gus Varland Start with the White Sox and choose him to triple Reno. He was previously released by Sox, but it seems he has not cleared the exemption. The Rattlesnake also remembered the right-handed Juan Morillo. In the corresponding actions, the right Kendall Graveman and Jeff Brigham Has been assigned as a job.
Varland, 28, still has a limited track record, but completed the 2024 record in 2024. In the second half of last year, Sox claimed he exempted the Dodgers from waivers. He has since thrown out 20 1/3 innings with an average running rate of 3.54, strikeout rate of 28.2% and a walking rate of 4.7%.
This puts him in a good role on the team in 2025, but it didn’t go as planned. His spring was awful and was selected by minors for the year. After just two outings, he was on the list of injured minors due to pressure from Laura (LAT). Since then, this injury essentially put him on the air. He started a rehabilitation mission in June but was shut down after just six appearances.
Valan was designated as a mission last week Jacob Amaya Go to the roster. By then, the trade deadline had passed. The injured player cannot give up completely. This is the only option to release the saving throw as SOX.
The snake plays the strings in the lost season. Their bullpen suffered heavy injuries this year. aj puk and Justin Martinez Both require UCL surgery. Kevin Ginkel Spanned shoulder has been eliminated. Ryan Thompson and Christian Montes de Oka Also on IL. Snake Trading Shelby Miller Before the deadline.
The club hopes to compete again in 2026, which means they have work to do to rebuild the bullpen. If he can get healthy and get back in good shape by next year, catching Varland could be a part of the process.
As for Graveman, the Rattlers brought him low-cost flyers during the offseason. He was an adventure game as he missed 2024 while recovering from shoulder surgery. However, his traded 1.35mm guarantee is just above the lowest $760,000 in the league, and he has been in the pre-operative years.
Gambling has no reward. Graveman has several jobs on IL, one due to a right lumbar strain and the other due to a right hip impact. Around these diseases, he released a 7.13 ERA in 17 2/3 innings. His 11% strikeout rate and 14.6% walk rate are both horrible numbers.
He was destined to be exempted from wire since the transaction deadline passed. Given his performance, the club will not ask him, as doing so will involve bearing the remaining amount of his salary. He has plenty of service time to refuse direct tasks and elect free agents, so the snake may just release him. At that time, he could sign with another club to a backup ratio league minimum, which was subtracted from the money paid by the Rattlesnake.
Brigham, 33, signed a minor league contract with Arizona during the offseason. His contract was selected as the roster in May. He mainly works in optional tasks and has only made four major league appearances. In this year’s Triple-A, he threw 20 2/3 innings with a 5.23 ERA, 37.2% strikeout rate and 10.5% walking rate.
He will no longer choose next year and will be eligible for arbitration. The Rattlers probably didn’t plan to bid him for a contract, so he was kicked out of the lineup today. Like Graveman, he was destined to be exempted from wire, although the claims here seem more likely. Probably his salary is close to the lowest rate, at least hitting the batsman on the farm. His era is high due to long balls, although pitching in the batsman-friendly Pacific Coast League can be a factor.
In his major league career, he threw 120 2/3 innings with a 4.85 ERA, 23.8% strikeout rate and 10.7% walking rate. His history goes back to early 2022, with 116 1/3 minor league innings, with an ERA of 4.87, strikeout rate of 32.9% and a walking rate of 13.3%. He still has the option for the rest of the season.
