Rare Achiuwa returns to Miami Heat in 2025-26 with one-year contract

With the 2025-26 season going to begin in less than a month, the Heat are finalizing the roster. Earlier this month, NBA insiders reported that Miami was having a possible party with the former first-round draft pick.

On Wednesday, September 24, NBA Insider Shams Charania announced that the Heat will sign the precious Achiuwa to a one-year contract. The 26-year-old is Miami’s first-round pick at the Memphis 2020 draft. After a Heat season, his career began and the precious Achiuwa is back in Miami for another year.

Heat has signed precious Achiuwa as a one-year contract

Just a few weeks ago, NBA insider IRA Winderman reported that calories and precious Achiuwa share a common interest. Miami will sign Achiuwa to a one-year contract before the 2025-26 season. Senior Center reunited with his team drafted in 2020. The precious Achiuwa spent a year at the Heat. Before the 2021-22 season, Miami trades Achiuwa and Goran Dragic to the Raptors in exchange for Kyle Lowry.

The rare Achiuwa spent three seasons with the Raptors. He played in 153 games and won 40 games for Toronto, averaging 8.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists. On the 2023-24 deadline, the Knicks acquired Achiuwa in an OG Anunoby deal. In two seasons, the precious Achiuwa played 106 games in New York and played 28 games.

In 2024-25, Achiuwa competed in 82 games in 57 New York and played 10 games. He missed the first 21 games of the season due to injury. The precious Achiuwa is a free agent in the offseason. It was not until Shams Charania announced that Achiuwa was signing a one-year contract with the Miami Heat. Achiuwa has another chance to draft his team game. He played 61 games and played four games for Miami as a rookie.

2025-26 years of frontcourt depth is thin. Signing the precious Achiuwa is one way to increase depth. Bam Adebayo and Kel’el Ware are Miami’s starter PF and center. Rookie Vlad Goldin may be the backup center, and now Achiuwa can be the backup PF for 2025-26. Can the Miami Heat get back on track after missing the playoffs in 2025?
