Rangers Direct Carl Edwards Jr.

September 23: According to Shawn McFarland of the Dallas Morning News, Edwards was eliminated. It is unclear whether senior rescuers will spend the final days of the season among minors, or elect free agents, and look forward to the next season.

September 19: Wanderer announces right-handed Carl Edwards Jr. Has been assigned as a job. This is the corresponding move to open the right-handed roster Tyler MahleRecovery from the 60-day injury list, a move reported earlier this week.

Less than two weeks ago, Edwards, 34, was selected for the roster. He made two appearances for the Rangers and threw three innings, despite being in a rather low leverage scenario when the club was lagging behind.

It was a nomadic year for Edwards. He signed with the Mexican League’s Tigres de Quintana Roo in March but was able to get a minor league deal from the Angels a few weeks later. He was summoned by Halos in late April but was assigned as a mission after just three days on the roster. He cleared the immunity, was elected as a free agent, and then returned to Quintana Roo to rejoin the Tiger Skin. Then, the Wanderer gave him a minor league deal in July.

In all of these trades, he averaged 4.50 in six major league innings and earned a 3.38 ERA in 74 2/3 Mexican League innings. He also recorded 50 2/3 minor league innings with a 4.44 ERA, 25.8% strikeout rate, 7.2% walk rate and 54.9% ground ball rate.

As the trade deadline passes, he will be abandoned in the coming days. Probably not very interested. With only one week left of the season, Edwards will not qualify for any claim club for playoffs. He is an upcoming free agent, so there is no long-term benefit to claiming. If he clears the immunity, he will have enough service time to refuse direct tasks and elect free agents.
