Spaniard Rafael Jordal put aside his friendship with Martin Landalus on Friday, ousting his compatriot with a 4-3(7), 4-1, 4-3(2) victory at the NextGen ATP Finals hosted by PIF.
With the victory, the 19-year-old improved his chances of reaching the semi-finals and now needs no result other than Tian Xueliang’s four-set victory in tonight’s match against Blue Group leader Nikolay Budkov Kjaer, who maintains a 2-0 record.
“I’m happy with how I handled the big moments and pressure moments in this game,” Hodahl said. “Very happy to win here. I have played against him for a long time. We are very good friends. We are from the same tennis club, Chamartin Tennis Club.”
Budkov Kjaer needs to win a set against Tenn in tonight’s second match to secure a spot in the semi-finals.
