Dunluce link is one of the greatest layouts on earth. Despite the weather, tests and local expectations, Shane Lowry will still be six shots with a 6 shot.
It will again have a new 71 yards for 7,381 yards with 71 yards. Regardless of the weather, it will be another classic, and all three holes will play their part.
First ‘Hughie’ – 420 yards, 4th
Despite the lack of yardage, this was the sixth most difficult hole in 2019, with an average score of 4.19. Again, this is the opening hole with no boundaries on both sides and you may hit the iron.
For all the pre-training conversations six years ago, there wasn’t much talk about the first one, then Rory McIlroy pulled the line from the line and knocked down eight points on his scorecard. He would miss one.
Darren Clarke hit the t-shirt that opened the ceremony and he wisely chose the driver.
There are several fairway bunkers that can sail or may not have races, and then leave behind a second pole that may be longer than you used to. Then the problem you’re having is a wrong front and a deep bunker on the left of the green – either of which you might start with a bogey.
It’s all four, then head to the second tee, where there’s a nice birdie chance waiting.
Fourth’Fred Daly’s – 502 yards, 4th shot
This is the function of the fifth hole (4.20) and has since been extended. It is named after the 1947 Open Champion, which comes from this part of the world. The addition of the new champion tee will make the two fairway bunkers work, and if you do stay away from them, there are boundaries to the right.
A very impressive recovery during the 2019 Open was watching Eddie Pepperell blow a line, smashing a 3-wood and almost knocking down his fourth shot.
Another loophole can get out of the way with a series of parses – Shane Lowry will be fourth in the week and then head to fifth where you’re more likely to hit the ball.

16th “Disaster Corner” – 236 yards, 3rd stroke
Six years ago, there were only 24 birdies throughout the week, the fewest birds in any hole, and it was the third hardest hole.
For all the discussions about 3 poles, it needs to be brief to make the juice flow, which is a savage and brilliant, so it is in a circular position.
Missed on the left, the green has a sponge-like hole to the right, from where you do it well, just to do it. The ball won’t stop at the bank. Instead, it will most likely fall to the bottom of the mountain to leave a recovered odor.
Long and left is a terrible place, and it is easy to cause double staggering from it.
Bobby Locke is said to have been short and left every time, winning every round.
Our 2019 champion Lowry played a 3-3-2-3 match, which is about the same as it did.
