It was the first major league call for 27-year-old Gosky. In 2019, he was Indiana's second-round draft pick, ranking in the top 30 prospects in Pittsburgh's first few professional seasons. The assessor attributed Gorky with solid speed and strength, but questioned his pure hit tool. He released a stunning strikeout rate for college drafters for low-level minors. Still, he reached Triple-A by the end of 2023 and has been there for the past two years.
Gorski beat .257/.319/.522 in 113 games a year ago. He connected on 23 home runs and stole 15 bases, although he was also found nine times. Gorski hit with nearly 29% of the clip, so Pittsburgh decided not to add him to the 40 and brought him into the Rule 5 draft. He was not selected and was with Bucs. He received a spring training invitation and hit the .360 with four home runs to the plate 27 times.
Bucs allocated Gorski back to Triple-A, starting this year. He started well, connecting three home runs and seven doubles in 18 games with a .300 mark. He sniffed 18 times in 73 set appearances (23.4%), but has done enough to let the Pirates see if he can improve the roster. The Pirates hit .222/.304/.335 this season. They are at bottom 10 in both average and benchmark percentages, while only the White Sox and Royals are lower.

Meanwhile, Burrows and Lawrence's shelves attracted Derek Shelton's bullpen. Pittsburgh claimed early in spring training that Lawrence exempted the Rockies from the waiver. The right hand played well in the early game, playing well on a single shot of 11 1/3 frames. He eliminated 15 and got the ground with a strong 52.4% cut. It is not clear how long he will park.
Alex Stumpf of MLB.com first pointed out Gorski at the club. Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post Office first reported that Suwinsky would be selected and Burrows was recalled.
