Pirate Direct Brett Sullivan – MLB Trade Rumors

June 18: According to the MLB.com transaction log, Sullivan cleared his exemption and was completely returned to Indianapolis. It is unclear whether he is elected free agent or taking on the task.
June 16: Pirates announce right-handed Dauri Moreta He has recovered from the 60-day list of injuries and was selected as Indianapolis triple. To open a list of 40 people, the catcher Brett Sullivan Has been assigned as a job. Sullivan is in an active roster, so the Bucs now have an open position there. This may suggest the catcher Joey Bart Will be restored from IL. The club is closed today, so it will not be formal until tomorrow.
Pittsburgh called Sullivan last week and added depth after losing Endy Rodríguez Injuried. BART has been out since late May, so Bucs need a backup capture Henry Davis. Sullivan picked up three games behind the plate. He walked 1-6 and struck out. It marks his third straight season with limited MLB action. Sullivan competed in 40 games with Padres in 2023-24. This is the second DFA of the 31-year-old Sullivan this season. During spring training, San Diego took him from the 40-man lineup. He will be traded or put on a waiver this week. If he does not have a waiver, he can elect a free agent in lieu of a direct mission to Indianapolis.
Moreta appeared last time in the 2023 Grand Slam. The 29-year-old rescuer has been on the injury list since training UCL surgery in spring 2024. He has been on a recovery mission since late April. Pitchers can usually spend 30 days on rehabilitation work, but sometimes prolong the elbow surgery. Moreta is obviously healthy but struggled to direct the ball in recovery, walking nearly 17% of the batsmen. The Pirates will now keep him triple A when trying to find more consistency.
