Phoenix’s Jalen Green to miss first game with hamstring injury

This past offseason, the Suns were involved in a huge trade. Phoenix trades two-time NBA champion Kevin Durant to the Rockets. In return, the Suns received Jalen Green, Dillon Brooks and draft capital. It’s part of a seven-team deal.
A key player is dealing with injuries ahead of the 2025-26 season. Suns first-year guard Jalen Green injured his knee a week before the first game. Suns head coach Jordan Ott, speaking with reporters on Tuesday, noted that Green will not be available for opening night. Phoenix hosts the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday, October 22nd.

Suns head coach Jordan Ott reported that Jalen Green suffered a “mild hamstring strain” during training camp. The injury lingered into the preseason, with Green trying to fight through the discomfort to play. Ott believes his SG may have aggravated the injury again during a game in China against the Brooklyn Nets. Jordan Ott told the media on Tuesday that Jalen Green will not play in the first game of the season.
The 23-year-old will be re-evaluated in 10 days. Jalen Green will start and play all 82 games for the Rockets in the 2024-25 season. This is the second consecutive season that Green has played in all 82 games. But that won’t be the case in his start in Phoenix. However, Jalen Green’s hamstring injury is minor. Suns fans shouldn’t worry about Green being out for an extended period of time.

Last season, Green averaged 21.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game. In addition, Green averaged 32.9 minutes per game for the Rockets. With the opportunity to acquire Kevin Durant this offseason, Phoenix went all-in. They traded away key players such as Jaylen Green and Dillon Brooks. While Green misses the start of the 2025-26 season, veteran Grayson Allen will likely start at SG.
Allen will be entering his eighth professional season and third with the Suns. Over two years, the veteran guard played 139 games with Phoenix, including 81 starts. Grayson Allen will start 74 games for the Suns in the 2023-24 season. The Suns roster will be eagerly awaiting Jalen Green to get his full strength and make his debut in Phoenix. Until then, the young SG will rest and recover as he is dealing with a minor hamstring strain.
