Paul Pierce hires driver after DUI arrest

Ex-Celtic star focuses on responsibility after incident
Paul Pierce recently hired a personal driver following his DUI arrest, demonstrating his apparent commitment to prioritizing safety and responsibility. The NBA Hall of Famer’s decision comes just weeks after he was charged with driving under the influence in Los Angeles.
changes in approach
Pierce was spotted leaving a Halloween-themed party in Beverly Hills, riding in the back seat of a chauffeured SUV rather than driving himself. The 46-year-old looked upbeat, wearing a curly wig, gold chains and a zebra-print purple jacket.
The scene was in stark contrast to the incident on Oct. 7, when police found him asleep behind the wheel of a Range Rover on a Los Angeles freeway. California Highway Patrol officers reported that Pierce showed signs of alcohol impairment and a blood test was performed. Formal charges followed days later.

Pierce’s response
Two days after the incident, 2008 NBA champion and Boston Celtics legend Pierce addressed the situation on Threads.
“Imagine being stuck in stationary traffic for 45 minutes and then falling asleep,” he wrote. “I took this photo that night. Because I’ve never been stuck in traffic for so long. I’m old, I’m tired, and then I fall asleep. I’m fine, thank you for your love.”
He claimed fatigue, not alcohol, caused the misunderstanding. However, prosecutors moved forward with the DUI case under California’s strict DUI laws. Pierce is expected to appear in court later this month.
go ahead
Since his arrest, Pierce has avoided major public events and appears to be focusing on lifestyle changes. Hiring a driver was one of them – a move praised by friends and fans as a responsible and mature one.
For many, the decision reflects one man’s determination to learn from his mistakes while protecting his legacy. Pierce was once known for his toughness on the court, but now he seems determined to show the same toughness off the court. As his court date approaches, the former Celtics star appears focused on moving forward cautiously – this time starting from the passenger seat.
