Patrick Reed and five other professionals think it will win

The fate of the BMW PGA title is not the only theme for everyone in Wentworth last week.
In fact, the Ryder Cup is almost the biggest topic – even for those who won’t be there.
Who will win? Where will they watch? What is their participation? What are their Ryder Cup memories?
Golf365 talks with the players about their Ryder Cup insights and ideas about who will win.
Patrick Reed
Team USA scored the highest score in Team USA and was named Captain America in the 2014 and 2016 Ryder Cup.
“Even if I’m not there, I’ll definitely pull for my boys.
“I talked to (Captain America) Keegan Bradley several times until Decision Day. He said, ‘Hey, you have to do something special.’ If I go out and win one of these events, I’ll kick off.
“In the Ryder Cup, I always felt like the home team was the favorite of the crowd. I didn’t really understand it until I actually played the Ryder Cup.
“I agree that historically, the American team hasn’t been as tightly weaved as European teams. I’ll never forget my first time coming to the DP World Tour. It’s different. Go back to the states and your family travels to events with you because it’s easy, it’s easy, it’s very easy to travel, it’s very easy to travel, it’s very easy to travel, it’s very easy to travel, you can finish golf and go straight back to your family.
“I came here and all the Europeans traveled together. They all had dinner together. There was a real brotherhood and friendship that you didn’t actually have in the United States.
“But I also feel we recognize that in the United States, we are working hard and building friendships and getting closer together as a whole.
“I’ve never made money by playing Ryder Cup. It’s all about representing my country. There’s no money to swing me playing Ryder Cup.
“But I don’t think the fact that Americans get paid gives Europe an advantage because these guys are wearing out so hard when you’re in those team rooms.
“I think this year will be really close, but hopefully our boys will win it.”
Niklas Norgaard Moller
Dane competes in the Team Cup in January – the Ryder Cup.
“It was an amazing experience to play for the Continental in the Team Cup, especially with the captain and vice captain being there and telling stories.
“Unfortunately, not many people were watching, but what was happening in the locker room was very special.
“I’m going to watch it on TV and settle down for all the actions. This year, I’ve been to Luke talking about the Ryder Cup dinner in the team environment, so I’ve got some insight there and I’m going to invest more.”
Matthew Jordan
Like Norgaard, Jordan competed in the Team Cup.
“Is this the best event for golf? It’s definitely one of the events you’d like to attend. It’s great to watch it, but of course you’ll consider how it performs.
“It’s a sporting peak. Even the first Tee excited guy who is not a golfer wakes up. I think I missed my first tee since I was a kid.
“My earliest Ryder Cup memories were probably the booing I was riding around 12 in 2008. But the 2012 Medinah did stand out in being able to remember things like the first T-shirt and Ian Poulter. I remember that was one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen.
“I’m confident in Europe’s opportunities and realize that it’s really hard to play out. But for Europe, this is possible, isn’t it?”
Brandon Robinson Thompson
The British DP World Tour rookie has one foot in both camps.
“My wife’s American, I’m European, so I’m looking forward to the Ryder Cup. I’ll always take root for Europeans anyway, so I hope we smash them.
“I’m just looking forward to a great event, as it has been, I’m sure it won’t disappoint.”
Martin Couvra
The 22-year-old French player won this year’s Turkish Open and became a contender for the 2027 European Ryder Cup.
“I have a lot of memories watching Victor Dubuisson’s 2014 Ryder Cup. I’m only 11 years old, but I really remember how his team with Graham McDowell was teaming up with Graham McDowell. He’s not a real hero, but he’s French, so we’re alone.
“On my two practice days when I was 15, I had a race in Paris in 2018. It was very good.
“I want to win Europe in New York. Do I want to play in the Ryder Cup? That’s the goal!”
Guido Migliozzi
The last Ryder Cup took place in the homeland of Italy, the four-time DP World Tour champion.
“I didn’t go to the Marco Simone GC in Rome in 2023. I needed a week off at that time, so I looked at the Ryder Cup on the couch, and that’s what I did this year.
“I think the Europeans are doing very well. The most important thing in the Ryder Cup is to be a team and I can see that Europe is better than the United States
“But you never know because it’s so hard, not only playing in the United States, but in New York. So they have to fight hard.”
