Padres thoroughly Logan Gillaspie – MLB Trade Rumors

today: Gillaspie cleared the immunity and was canceled earlier this week with Triple-A El Paso. Gillaspie started the start of El Paso in yesterday’s game.
June 30: Priests announced on Monday that they have resumed right-handed Logan Gillaspie From the list of injured 15 days. Instead of properly adding options to the active roster, San Diego assigned him to take on the mission.
Gillaspie, 28, has been on the rise since late April due to tilt injury. He played three games for the friar in 2025, threw seven innings and ran only twice. He did this with a match rate of 12.9% for strikeouts and walking rates and giving up a lot of loud contacts along the way (average exit speed of 92.1 mph, a hard hit rate of 45.5%).
This is Gillaspie’s fourth straight season to record at least some major league time. He threw a total of 44 2/3 MLB frames between the Orioles and Padres, recording 4.63 runs obtained with a strikeout efficiency of 14.5%, walking rates of 6% and 35.7% ground ball rate. Gillaspie has averaged 95.1 mph (94.7 mph in 2025), usually pairing the court with 83-84 mph sliders, 87-88 mph replacements and 82-83 mph curves (in descending order of use). He also started mixing a 91.5 mph tool in at least the short three-inning appearance this year.
Gillaspie has been working as a reliefist since reaching High-A. Originally signed by the brewer as an undrafted free agent, he has now also been in the game in four three seasons, recording a 4.37 ERA with a strikeout rate of 23.3% and a 8.1% walk rate in 129 2/3 innings. Paders can trade Giraspi any time in the next five days or put him on a waiver. The waiver is a 48-hour process, so his DFA will be resolved within a week. Since Gillaspie was never replaced and had three years of major league service, he would stick with the depth arm of the organization if he passed unclaimed immunity.
