Padres re-signs Martin Maldonado

The priest brought it back Martin Maldonado According to Madfriars, it involves minor league contracts. San Diego has appointed veteran catcher to allocate after obtaining Freddy Fermin Deadline from Kansas City. A week later, they released Maldonado.
It’s been more than a month since Maldonado’s last game, and Madfriars added that he will report to the team’s Arizona complex. San Diego Triple-A members in El Paso will begin their moves by September 21. Once Padres heats up, Padres intends to assign Maldonado to El Paso or will leave him in the complex for the rest of the season.
It is not clear when the deal will be signed, but it is not surprising if it is quietly hammered over the weekend. If the deal is completed by August 31, Maldonado will qualify for the San Diego playoff roster. Apparently he won’t see any action in October, but that will give them some protection if one of their first two catchers, Fermin or Elias Díaz,Injuried.
The Priests still have Luis Campusano In the 40-man squad, he hasn’t played MLB behind the plate all year round. San Diego also chose not to recall the extra active roster on campus, despite this fact that Campasano reached .329/.436/.603 in 91 three-innings. Instead, they continue to carry two utility infielders who are not used frequently Will Wagner and Mason McCoywhen Jackson Merrill Lynn Return from the injured list. Obviously, if it is not available, Padres is not interested in relying on campus in October.
Maldonado is at least familiar with San Diego’s pitchers if he is forced to take action. His offensive shortcomings are well known, and he reached .204/.245/.327 in 161 sets this year. He was also charged with only eight passes in 445 innings, ranking second in Major League Baseball. He threw away only 13.2% of the attempted fixed people. Still, Padres wants Maldonado as the third catcher, so he keeps him as an injury insurance in a position with weaker organizational depth, so there is no harm.
