Padres puts Michael King on injury list

Priests announce right-handed Michael King Due to inflammation in the left knee, it has been placed on the list of injuries for 15 days until traced back on August 11. Right-handed Randy Vásquez Recalled in the corresponding action.

The monk has not provided any information about the time when the king was injured or expected him to fail. In any case, his IL position is a significant development. The Padres just passed the Dodgers and scored a game in the Western Conference National League. The two clubs will hold three games in Los Angeles tomorrow to divide the lead. King plans to win the ball in the first game, but that will no longer be the case. Maybe Vásquez will get the ball. Dylan stopsoriginally scheduled to start on Saturday, may start Friday, but is still under regular breaks.

For King, it continues the season that was already an injury. He landed on the IL in late May due to shoulder inflammation. The harm once seemed harmless, as Kim woke up feeling a little uncomfortable after sleeping awkwardly on her shoulders. It was later revealed that he was fighting his chest nerves. It took him two months to return to the Major League Club.

Once he is healthy enough to return to the mound, his return to major will be quick. He only had a recovery start, which started on August 3. He threw 61 innings for Triple-A El Paso, threw 61 innings in 3 1/3 innings, allowing six runs to be won. Still, Padres activated him from Illinois and started Saturday’s major league game. He spent 57 goals to play two innings against the Red Sox, allowing two runs to win in the process.

Apparently, from that beginning to today, some knee inflammation suddenly appeared. There is nothing to show King’s absence, but it’s still not a huge development for the club. Last year, King made a huge breakthrough with San Diego. He threw 173 2/3 innings with an average running rate of 2.95, 27.7% strikeout rate and 8.7% walking rate. His speed statistics before landing in Illinois this year are very similar.

Ideally, Paders would have this rotational piece not only in the regular season, but also in the playoffs. Maybe Kim can get back on track in a few weeks, but it’s undoubtedly a setback they don’t want.

They are now moving into the next few weeks, with the rotation including the stop, Yu Darvish,,,,, Nestor Cortes,,,,, Nick Pivetta Maybe it’s Vásquez. Guys like it JP Sears,,,,, Matt Waldron and Kyle Hart Optional assignment is being made. The year for Pivetta is great, but stops having 4.86 ERA at the beginning of the last ten times. Darvish and Cortes competed in the IL for most of the season. Getting the King back to his 2024 self would make the organization stronger, but he is back on the shelf. Tomorrow’s game in Los Angeles is the 13th straight game without a day off.

It’s not a good development for King personally, either, as his upcoming free agent. During his huge 2024 campaign and early this year, he tends to be one of the top free agent starters in the 2025-26 offseason and made good shots on a nine-digit contract. His months-long summer absence made the uncertainty surrounding him shroud his ability to make money.

Going back to major may be the first step to get him back on track. The last two months of regular season work, followed by some playoff games, may eliminate memories of shoulder injuries. That might have happened to some extent, but the window is now narrower.
