Padres activates Yu Darvish on Monday

Yu Darvish As Padres manager Mike Shildt told reporters (including San Diego Federation-Risbury University’s Kevin Acee), he will make his first major league appearance in 2025, which will be activated from the 60-day injury roster to start Monday’s Diamondback game. Darvish suffered from elbow inflammation in mid-March, and the veteran’s recovery process ended up losing more than half of his season.

The exact nature of Davish’s progress remains somewhat vague. Shildt said the team trusted Darvish to basically manage his recovery because the pitcher clearly knows the best about how his arm feels and how much upgrade work is required. Darvish competed in just one minor league rehabilitation game on May 14, although his continued sore elbow paused his recovery and delayed any plans to return to Padres rotation.

Acee wrote that Darvish has abandoned two simulation games in the past 12 days and hit 64 on his most recent outing. This seems to have checked the last box to activate Darvish, who will jump into the depths in the NL West big game. San Diego leads four games in Arizona, and Padres will naturally like to beat their division rivals further, further defeating the wildcard battle.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Darvish took a rust knockout to take a start or two, but overall, getting a front-line pitcher is naturally a big advantage for Padres. Even if there is darvish, Michael King Since late May, Dylan stops In an inconsistent season, San Diego has been floating in temporary rotations. Nick Pivetta Enjoy a huge debut season in Padres uniforms, Stephen Kolek and Randy Vasquez Despite some shaky peripheral statistics, they kept the fortress in their start. Padres’ excellent bullpen also helps strengthen the entire pitcher.

2025 will mark Darvish’s 20th professional season, counting his seven years in Japan’s professional baseball and his previous 12 Major League Baseball campaigns. Darvish turns 39 next month, but seems to be still much left in the tank, as evidenced by his last season’s 3.31 ERA at the Padres’ 81 2/3 frames (and his 1.98 ERA at the 13 2/3 playoff innings). As Acee points out, Darvish was plagued by elbow problems throughout his time in San Diego, with the pitcher and the team working to keep him healthy and preparing for the playoff extension and throughout October.
