Packers WR Bo Melton tried to become CB after the team traded Jaire Alexander.

At the 2025 NFL Draft, Packers added WR Rooms using first and third round picks. Green Bay chose Matthew Golden of Texas and Savion Williams of TCU.
These rookies are with Jayden Reed, Romeo Doubs, Christian Watson, Dontaviyon Wicks, Malik Heath and Mecole Hardman. The Packers’ WR core is almost all locked in the mid-2025 season. With WR crowded in 2025, former WR Bo Melton is shooting CB. Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Diary Sentinel reported that Melton’s coach was impressed and willing to give him a chance.
Will Bo Melton transfer to CB full-time?

The Seahawks chose WR Bo Melton in Rutgers at the 2023 NFL Draft. In the final game in August, Melton was released from the team and eventually signed with Green Bay. As a 2023 rookie, Melton competed in five games and started the Packers. Melton played 17 games for Green Bay in the 2024 sophomore campaign. In addition, he played 32% of the team’s special team snapshots last season.
During the offseason, the Packers used high draft capital to choose two WRs. It looks very difficult for Bo Melton to make the Packers’ roster a WR this season. However, his coach did not give up on him. Recently, Green Bay released veteran CB Jaire Alexander. The team is thin in CB, and head coach Matt Lefluer is willing to give Melton a chance.
Bo Melton proved his versatility with Packers and joined the CB this week. General Manager Brian Gutekunst mentioned how some players in league history have converted from WR to CB. A modern example is Bills’ CB Tre’davious White. Before joining Buffalo, he was a full-time WR at the university. White has already opened 86 times on the CB bill in eight seasons. Who said Bo Melton couldn’t make similar changes and become the starting CB in the NFL?
