Outfield help for deadline: Alex calls on the Dodgers, Miguel Andujar

OK, here is, guys. This is our final trade analysis section for the 2025 trade deadline, and we will introduce two outfielders who will now help playoff contenders. The Dodgers acquired outfielder Alex from the Nationals on Thursday in exchange for pitches by pitches by Eriq Swan and Sean Paul Liouunan. Reds General A traded with veteran Miguel Andujar to pitch to Kenya Huggins, so under no circumstances should we blame Cincinnati for the prospect of embracing.

We will start with the Dodge Nation deal. Here is my analysis: Alex Call is very good. He can help the Dodgers win. You’re welcome. ESPN’s Jeff Passan breaks the news of the deal, and Andrew Golden’s Andrew Golden Washington Post The name of the pitcher heading to Washington was reported.

Continuous or even eternal anger Baseball prospectus Editor-in-chief Craig Goldstein, Call will not just take over Michael Conforto’s position in the left field. Earlier Thursday, the Dodgers traded left-handed James Outman to the twins in exchange for relief Brock Stewart, giving the right-hander a space to be the fourth outfielder, possibly Conforto’s platoon partner. If you put the two deals together to compare Apple with Apple, you can call Outman (and two prospects from Stewart). The phone is three years older than Outman and the service hours are roughly the same. He is much better now than Outman, allowing the Dodgers to get another right-handed racket in the roster, but he offers less room for upside in the future.

Call is 30 and has a career in 102 WRC+ in 920 sets. He has performed much better this season with his WRC++. He also has no division of wild platoons. This season, he has a WRC+ of 124 against left-handed and a WRC+ of 115 against right-handed. In his career, these numbers were 110, for left-handed and for right-wingers, 97. Conforto is much better with the right-wing professionals, but this season, he has only 85 WRC+ against them. It doesn’t make no sense to plug in the phone at the start of the left fielder and call it a day, which will make Craig very happy.

Call has a reputation for speed and defense, but at least it is worth noting that his sprint speed has dropped this season and his defense is close to average. He may recover some speed as his left foot torn the plantar fascia in less than a year. Anyway, he should be able to retain all three outfield positions when asked. With James Wood, Dylan’s crew and the recent call to Dylan lile in the outfield, the call no longer looks like a part of Washington’s future. On the other hand, the Dodgers have made good upgrades to the outfield and have had a short time throughout the season.

Swan is a 23-year-old right-handed starter with a height of 6-foot-6, fastball reaching 100 mph, and an Iffy control rate, and he certainly looks like the prospect of Washington Nationals. He didn’t put a lot of numbers into college and he didn’t put a lot of numbers in minors due to the wild walk total, but have you heard me say he’s 6’6″ and throw a hundo? Swan’s 4.43 ERA and 4.34 FIP mark a big improvement in 2024 this season, which is a big improvement in 2024, but he’s still a big development to be over 40 because he looks more likely to end up being a reliefist.

That said, the swan may be a good reliefer. Currently, Eric has a 70th grade on the Swan slider. He can use it to hit the area with its WIF rate close to 50%. The fastball sat 96, but it was hitting and he didn’t strike on it. It may end up being a court that is only suitable for attracting whiffs above the area. But this is the starter. If the swan ends up being the most affluent mitigator, then adding the slider and the 90s fastball will work properly.

Born in Venezuela for 20 years, Liñan will not read anything about him about his changes and ends. Eric earned 55 modern values on the court in April when he was ranked 30th in the Dodgers system as a 40-fv. Liñan started the season with a low A, gaining two positions in Triple-A and then descending to High-A. He was shelled in the beginning of one of the triple A, but even so, his overall era was still 2.78, with a FIP of 3.29 in 18 appearances, and 14 starts on those three levels. He faces more than 10% of the batsmen, but he also hits nearly a third of the batsmen. It is also worth noting that because they make Linan’s ERA era 61, while the 74’s Fip-look better. Jeffrey Paternostro Baseball prospectus Writing a very interesting article about how to evaluate Liñan in May, I highly recommend you to do it. The question now is how Liñan will develop and whether he can propose anything else to complement his changes. Eric wrote him a new makeup look today, so I will give you verbatim:

Liñan dominated his start to the 2025 season and was promoted to Low-A Rancho after just six starts. He started two emergency starts on Triple-A before heading to the High Lakes, where he has been in good shape (but no longer dominant) during the 10 outings before Alex Call Trade. Liñan’s best course is his tail swap, which moves enough to overwhelm the A-Ball batsman. His fastball beat a lot of batsmen 91-92, but Linan’s orders may not be good enough to be true for major league batsmen. The striker with a huge change will be eliminated at least within the fifth starter range, and if Liñan can surpass this projection, it will be because he either sharpened his fastball command to thrive at 40, or he finds much better than the cutters to throw now.

This seems like a good call. He is a great player, but he is better in the Dodgers’ current plans than the Nationals’ future plans. Swan and Linian have a really interesting prospect to contribute to the profession, but they both have a lot of work to do.

Now let’s go to another deal. After trading third baseman Ke’Bryan Hayes with the Pirates and getting starter Zack Littell from the Rays, the Reds continued to increase, sending Huggins to A in exchange for Andujar. KPRC2’s Ari Alexander reported the deal first. Andujar is a nine-year veteran, but he is finally on the brink of free agents and is performing, which means that at the deadline, A can turn him into a slanted prospect, which is based on the religion practiced by the Sacramento baseball team that can achieve the highest level of reincarnation.

Andujar is not a man’s idea of the stars, but he smashed the left-handed pitching, for a 79 WRC+ Reds team against the left-handed, sixth in baseball, he looks like a piñacolada in the desert. Andujar held the 129 WRC+ and 3.9 war with the Yankees in 2018, and the 2018 rookie finished second in Rookie of the Year, behind only a guy named Shohei Ohtani. Injuries and inconsistencies have limited Anduhar to less than two seasons worth of games in the seven years since, with his 86 WRC+ combined to -0.4 war. That is, Andujar looks much better. He ran 107 WRC+ in 2025 and over the past three years he has combined 105 WRC+. Andujar hit .422 in 48 sets against the lefties this season. These numbers will be played in any lineup.

This season, Andujar has separated his time between third base and left field. The Reds got the 0.4 War from the third base and the 1.9 War from the three outfields, both of which ranked 26th in all teams. With Hayes joining the club, Andujar won’t see much time in the third inning, but he can be combined with Noelvi Marte, now from third base, with left-handed batsmen Gavin Lux and Jake Fraley. Connor Joe or Will Benson will need to send it down once TJ Friedl returns from the paternity test list. Small upgrades are a lot of moving parts, but it is still an upgrade.

The Reds drafted the Huggins from Louisiana Tech University’s famous junior college in 2022, while Eric ranked 26th in the organization’s prospects with a 40 fv in May. However, Eric now has over 40 results, as Huggins looks more like a starter after recovering from Tommy John’s surgery, after spending much of his 2023 and 2024 seasons recovering in torpedoes. His changes have improved to a large extent, giving him a third ball, but there is more behind it. “This guy’s conditioning during TJ’s recovery has changed completely,” Eric said. “He’s not as big as Sean Manaea, but his figure is just an absolute unit like the young Manaea. The better the conditions, that’s probably why his delivery is now more controllable and he’s throwing a strike.”

Huggins, 22, made fewer than 40 career appearances in Low-a after his third attempt. There are still risks here to mitigate. However, he has 3.69 ERA and 3.64 FIP in 63 innings so far this season, which gives him an era and a time of fip and a fip-87. The striker’s rear door slider is reliable.

It’s a small deal, but it’s easy to see the attraction on both sides. Andujar has some limited skill sets, but it fits in Cincinnati, which he achieved at a reasonable price. The injury makes it difficult to know how much Huggins can offer, but of course there is enough dreams.
