If Swedish Hockey League – Hockey Writers – NHL News

Former Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom reportedly signed with the Swedish Hockey League. The news is expected to be officially announced later today.

Backstrom, 37, missed most of the past two seasons due to injury issues. However, he is now ready to continue his career with Brynäs, a team he played for before joining the Capital in 2006.

Backstrom spoke as the organization issued a press release and said.

“If the opportunity arises, I always feel like I want to represent Brenas one day again,” Backstrom’s translator said. “I have been a great motivation to return to Bryans for a long time. After recovering and leaving the game for nearly two seasons, I feel very energetic and energetic and contribute to the success of the club’s future.”

After a very successful NHL career, all of which were spent with the Capitals, Backstrom is going home to continue playing. In 1,105 games, he recorded 271 goals and 762 assists with 1,033 points. His 762 assists make him the organization’s historical assist leader. Most, if not all, of these assists were obtained by finding his long-time friend, Alex Ovechkin, who would make an assist from an opponent goalkeeper across from his office at once.

This is indeed the end of the capital’s hockey era. Backstrom is the team’s top center for nearly 17 seasons. But all the great things are over. For him, the organization and the fan base, they were able to share the memorable moments of 2018 rising the Stanley Cup.
