Old Little Sales: New Tom Doak Link Course

As the world’s top golfers at the 2025 Genesis Scottish Open this week arrive at Renaissance clubs, attention is also turning north to another work by the legendary designer of the course.

Old Petty is the latest masterpiece from visionary golf course architect Tom Doak, who will debut at Inverness’s Cabot Highlands.

Doak combines his iconic design minimalist design with land potential to the highland potential, and it is now fully grown and ready for a preview in early August.

Thanks to its idyllic environment, appealing process and highland traditions resemble one of Doak’s greatest tracks, his latest amazing courses have attracted expectations.

As PGA and DP World Tours clash at this weekend’s Genesis Scottish Open, seeing the best fights in the world make us yearn for Doak’s next masterclass in a traditional link course.

Cabot CEO and co-founder Ben Cowan-Dewar made a statement ahead of Old Petty’s opening ceremony: “From the beginning, our vision was to commemorate the land and its long history, while also commemorating an unforgettable experience. Old Petty is a surprising, challenging and inspiring course that is truly embraced by the attitude of the Highland spirit.”

The connection between Renaissance clubs and old trivia is more extensive than its architectural excellence.

They both build on the spirit of Doak’s cooperation with the land, rather than imposing the land, as he embraces and exudes attention in the unique beauty of the Highlands.

Old trivia: Modern classics in production

Located near the old chapel, the course offers views of the 18 holes of Stewart Castle – the course emphasizes this place.

Not only does Old Petty fit seamlessly into its environment, it also amplifies the drama of the Scottish Highlands and its propaganda characters, attracting golf fans from all over the world.

The course’s routes include dramatic coastal holes, fairways intertwined near the clubhouse and post 3 17, surely destined to be iconic.

Doak is known for his plays on the land – he is once again delivered at Cabot Highlands.

Tapping early in Cabot Heights

The course will be open from August 1 to September 30 this year to preview the game, giving golfers the opportunity to experience the new siblings of the freshman club.

Cabot Highlands will provide a walking experience only on old little parts during preview.

They are working with bookings in Castle Stuart courses to offer TEE-Times.

The Green Cost at Stewart Castle is £330, while the Preview Green Cost at Old Petty is £190 and sells for 18 holes, which is more valuable to attend both courses at Cabot Highlands this summer.

When the Scottish Open and Open are good, this is the ultimate way to limit link golf repairs.

“It’s hard to exaggerate what this means for Cabot Highlands,” Cowan-Dewar added.

“We think that old trivia will enhance Inverness’s image, a must-visit station for golfers around the world, just as Renaissance clubs helped raise the bar for modern Scottish design.”

With Doak’s Renaissance, once again this weekend showed the world his architectural work, and the buzz and anticipation of Old Petty’s openness are under construction.

For some, the desire to take some of the greatest courses that the Highlands must offer will not be ignored.

Cabot Heights, its two golf courses, and one of the greatest visionaries of golf, is really good on the map now.
