Novak Djokovic overcomes his left ankle, Shanghai Humidity and Jaume Munar’s 11th-time challenge to reach the quarterfinals of the Rolex Shanghai Masters on Tuesday.

During the two-hour 40-minute conflict, the Serbs received multiple medical timeouts for leg problems and often placed ice towels on their heads during the conversion, with humidity levels exceeding 82%. Djokovic lost his second set a few times before he received medical support and collapsed after losing his second set.

However, despite the challenging conditions, the 38-year-old digs deep into one of the most physical games of the season, beating Munar 6-3, 5-7, 6-2.

After losing the second set, Djokovic took advantage of it as Munar, who regained momentum at the start of the third set. Munar served 0-0, 40/15 and missed a simple smash range to open the Serbs. Djokovic continued to break Munar’s serve and then performed well in the decision-makers to shorten the rally. The 40-time Masters 1000 champion produced a 9.6-stroke mass on the forehand in the third set, with an average speed of 84 mph in the stroke to decide and win.

The shooting mass measures the mass of the player serving, returning, forehand and backhand in a ratio of 0-10. They are calculated in real time by analyzing the speed, rotation, depth, width of each lens and its impact on the opponent.

Djokovic reached the quarterfinals in all 11 matches in Shanghai, setting a record four trophys. The 5th player in the PIF ATP rankings is the highest-ranked player in the draw and he will next meet with Belgium’s Zizou Bergs.

The Serbs are chasing the record 41st ATP Masters 1000 champion since winning in Paris in 2023. Earlier this year, he lost to #NextGenatp Czech Jakub Mensik in the Miami final. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, the record seven-time NITTO ATP final champion is currently third in the PIF ATP live game, which is a 35-10 match.
