Nick Robertson, Maple Leafs Avoid Arbitration with One-Year Deal – Hockey Writer – Toronto Maple Leafs

It’s a new month, and on Saturday, Toronto Maple Leafs and forward Nick Robertson avoided arbitration, agreeing to a one-year deal that would pay $1.825 million for the 23-year-old in the 2025-26 season. Maple Leaf and Robertson held an upcoming arbitration hearing on Sunday.
The deal comes at Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman reported that the two sides are more than $1 million apart in the value of the players they set, Robertson hopes to have $2.25 million per season, while the team wants to settle $1.2 million.
Robertson played most of the season in the team’s mid-season, scoring a career-high 69 games in 2024-25, scoring 15 goals and 22 points in the field. He also averaged a career-high 12 minutes per game, and his offense seemed to trigger every time head coach Craig Berube pulled him out of the roster.
Apart from offense, Robertson ended last season with a career high of lockdown (33) and hit (79), indicating that he is buying Berube’s system. However, in the playoffs, Robertson became the stranger again, with the Maple Leafs winning the second round of the Florida Panthers against the final Stanley Cup.
Since the Maple Leafs draft in the second round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Robertson has played in 156 regular season games, scoring 32 goals and 56 points, adding three points in 13 playoff games.
After the offseason, Robertson knew to the team that he wanted to trade, the deal helped both sides avoid another sticky situation, a request withdrawn after a discussion with upcoming coach Berube.
Robertson still has to fight for a place in the roster this season, but with more than 150 games veterans ultimately put him in the upper hand.
